This post was due long back, but after watching 3 idiots,I decided to finally jot it down. What are we chasing in today’s cut-throat competitive world?? If you ask anyone why did he studied engineering for 4 years if he had to do an MBA??Why did he not do BBA ,if his aim was to do an MBA?? (That includes me) & the answer would be peer pressure & family pressure. Somebody would say ,that this is what normal people do, that is what my successful cousin had done, so I followed suit. Had he asked himself just one question” Why the hell I am doing what I am doing??” & his life would have not been a jigsaw puzzle.
Long are gone the days when a person blindly followed his or her father’s profession. Now everybody has a choice to decide what to do & if you make your hobby as your profession then life becomes easy. Everybody has different set of hobbies & their intellectual capacity vary.Everybody cannot become a doctor, engineer or CA. Some people have their left side of brain more polished than their right ones.
You can always go for a job or profession that gives you a lot of money & then pursue your hobbies which is fine. But life isn’t a fairy tale for every body. If you are not lucky enough, then you can get stuck in a job which is absolutely a wrong fit for you only to suffer everyday. The example that Aamir gave in 3 idiots was perfect. If you love someone & marry someone else than you will not feel happy. You can only compromise. But as in our society very few love stories have a happy ending, same is the case with a career.
Money becomes so much important for us that we forget to enjoy the precious moments of life. I think that is why everybody goes to US for education. They study not because they have to but because they want to. The goal of education is to make good citizens, but it is now seen as a premise to a good job, huge salary & a comfortable life.
Baba Ranchhoddas has said some brilliant words.Quoting him ” Chase excellence & success will follow you itself.” Life is not just about money but passion. So live your passion & follow you dreams. For getting more lessons from 3 idiots take a look at this presentation .
Dude only thing worth chasing is knowledge

excellence follows.. it
and success follows excellence..
